The Banana Boat is mounting a Jukebox Season in late July 2010.
What is Jukebox Season?
A revue-style presentation of five ten-minute plays, over five nights in the last week of July 2010.
What do you want?
We are seeking short plays to be part of the Jukebox Season.
Plays must be:
– no more than ten minutes long;
– have at least two characters;
– be an original work.
Is there a theme for this Jukebox Season?
Why yes there is: What’s my stereotype?
How you approach, develop, riff, whatever on this theme is totally up to you.
Who do you want?
You. And you are ideally any one or more of the following:
– a Banana Boat member;
– a Pasifika writer;
– a Maori writer;
– any combination of the above.
How do I submit?
Submit the following to Banana Boat by Wednesday 5 May 2010:
1. a ten-minute script;
2. a half-A4-page about yourself, the writer; and
3. a half-A4-page about the story you’re trying to tell – like why, or how it came about, whatever you feel like.
When do I hear back?
Wednesday 12 May 2010.
What happens after that?
Your favourite three words: “Watch this space.”
But here’s a hint: intense development.
What if I have other questions?
